An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth and gilt bright and fresh. The contents, with a small ink date stamp to the lower edge of the front pastedown and a small brown spot to the front endpaper are otherwise clean throughout. The author was a British anthropologist, ethnographer and archaeologist who spent most of his working life in peninsular British Malaya (now Malaysia) and in North Borneo (now Sabah, Malaysia).
