First US edition, first printing. Publisher's original yellow cloth with black titles to the upper board and spine, in the Bip Pares illustrated dustwrapper, and orange wraparound band. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth somewhat darkened and frayed at the spine tips. The contents with toning to the pages are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with a magnificent fine example of the first state dustwrapper that remains entirely without fading, loss or tears. Not price-clipped ($2.00 net to the upper front flap). Whilst both the book and the dustwrapper have obviously been kept apart since publication, they are both entirely original and correct for the first printing.
The basis for the 1931 Columbia Pictures comedy thriller of the same name, directed by George B. Seitz and starring Walter Byron and Carmel Myers. (Hubin).
