First edition, first printing. Original yellow cloth with titles in gilt and brown to the spine and upper board. Untrimmed edges. Illustrated throughout with black and white wood engravings by Averil Salmond le Gros Clark. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth with light discolouration to the spine and extremities and a 3.5 cm split to the head of the spine. The contents, with faint spotting to the prelims, are otherwise clean and bright throughout and without previous owners' stamps or inscriptions.
