Notes:

Provenance: Agatha Christie; given by the author to The Friends of the National Libraries (sold Sothebys June 15th 1960; lot 103: 240); acquired by Milton R. Slater (private collection). An extraordinary "lost" notebook belonging to the Queen Of Crime, brimming with ideas and offering an exceptional insight into the unique way that Christie worked; how she developed her characters, planned plots and fleshed out stories. Of the 74 Agatha Christie notebooks known to exist, this recently discovered one is not only the richest in content but is the only one outside of the author's estate. The book was donated by Agatha Christie to be sold to raise money for the The Friends of the National Libraries at a Sotheby's auction in 1960 where it was bought by an American manuscript collector in whose collection it remained until 2017. The original catalogue for the Sothebys auction sale is included. (Curran, John: Agatha Christie's Complete Secret Notebooks. Harper Collins 2016).
