First edition, second state. Publisher's green cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. An excellent fine copy, the binding square and tight, the contents clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the very good rubbed and nicked dustwrapper which is very lightly chipped and with a vertical crease to the head of the faded spine, and with a couple of tiny closed tears at the extremities. Not price-clipped (3s 6d net to the front flap).




Containing 11 essays, 10 of which are reprinted from Selected Essays (1932), the last "John Marston" is printed here for the first time. This is the second issue with the correct half title tipped in and with thicker endpapers. (Gallup A27a).
