First cheap edition. Original red cloth with black titles to the spine and upper board, in dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout in black and white by Maurice Greiffenhagen. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the spine faded, the edges a little rubbed. The contents have a few faint spots to the text block edge, previous owner's inscriptions to the front pastedown and front free endpaper, and a small note adding a title to the list of the author's works on the reverse of the half title. Complete with the rubbed, nicked and creased original dustwrapper which has a few short closed tears to the edges, a longer closed tear to the rear flap fold, spotting to the the spine, and three pieces of tape to the underside.
