Reprints. Complete in ten volumes. Handsome contemporary half blue morocco in Hatchards binding. Five raised bands, gilt ruled and decorated compartments, titles in gilt to the spines. Top edge gilt. Each volume has a different portrait frontispiece with black and white plates. Index in Volume IX and supplementary Volume X. Fold out maps in Volume X (Corrected Pepys pedigree recently recorded in the college of arms. Descendants of Pauline Pepys. London and Westminster in the time of Pepys.) and Volume VI (John Evelyn's plan of the Dutch fleet in the Medway June 1667). An attractive set, the bindings square and firm, with some rubbing to the slightly faded spines, panel corners and the odd area along panel edges. Some white marks to the cloth panels on a few of the volumes, whilst the leather is lightly rubbed and scratched in places. All ten volumes contain the bookplate of Sir Ferdinand Michael Kroyer - Kielberg to the front pastedown, with the contents otherwise clean and free from inscriptions. Some light toning and dustiness to the closed textblock and toning around the edges of the endpapers in all volumes.

From the library of Sir Ferdinand Michael Kroyer - Kielberg (1882 - 1958), who was a philanthropist and entrepreneur. Originally from Denmark, he founded British Molosses Co and became a British citizen in 1926.
