A HISTORY OF THE ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLES. The Chartwell Edition.

First illustrated edition, first printing (contemporaneous with the Cassell first edition). Four volumes. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographs and maps. Publisher's original blue cloth, with gilt titles and borders to the upper board and spine. Red leather title labels. Blue top-stain. Issued without dustwrappers. A very good set, the bindings tight and square, with rubbing and bumping to the spine ends, corners and board edges. The cloth on all four volumes is rubbed and scuffed in places, with first volume with a few light marks to the upper board, the second volume with rubbing and dulling to the gilt on the spine. The contents, with some light spotting to the prelims of the fourth volume and toning to the closed text block, are otherwise clean and free from inscriptions or stamps.
