First edition, first printing. Inscribed presentation copy. Publisher's original red cloth with white titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Photographic portrait frontispiece, illustrations and three folding maps throughout. An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth fresh. The contents with a single foxing spot to the front pastedown, mirrored on the endpaper are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the very good or better rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has a couple of short closed tears and some darkening at the extremities. Not price-clipped (25s net to the front flap).
Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the title page "For / J. Francis / With every kind thought / from his old friend / Dennis Wheatley". Wheatley's account of his work during World War II and the fourteen secret war papers he produced between the spring of 1940 and summer of 1941 for Chiefs of Staff, the Joint Planning Staff of the War Cabinet, and His Majesty King George VI.
