First edition, first printing. Publisher's original black cloth boards, with red titles to the spine, ruled in red to the upper board. Illustrated a frontispiece, 31 full page black and white plates and 1 folding map. A very good copy, the binding tight and square with a little bumping and rubbing to the extremities. The contents, with a small booksellers label to the front pastedown and occasional light foxing, are otherwise clean and free from inscriptions or stamps.
Intended as a companion volume to 'The Burman: His Life and Notions' (1892). 'Burma and Beyond' details the customs and life of other groups living in and around Burma (now Myanmar) including the Shans, Karens, Chins and Kachins.
