First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Brilliantly illustrated by Quentin Blake with black ink wash drawings throughout. A excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth bright and fresh, with a little bumping to the spine tips and extremities. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed, creased dustwrapper, that is a little faded to the spine, and is without loss or tears. The novel has been adapted many times, most recently for the 2025 animated musical film, directed co-written and produced by Phil Johnston, and starring Johnny Vegas and Margo Martindale as Mr and Mrs Twit.
