First edition in book form. Signed by the author. Limited edition. Publisher's original brown flocked boards with a black faux leather spine lettered in gilt, with a facsimile of the author's signature in gilt and a white inlaid pictorial title label to the upper board. A publisher's barcode label is fixed to the lower board. White satin bookmark. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, bright and fresh. The contents with a touch of bleed from the front endpaper to the very bottom edge of the early pages, are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps.

Issued in a limited edition of 500 copies, from which this example is numbered 418 and signed by Ian R. MacLeod in blue ink on the limitation page. A 'collector's edition' of the prolific science fiction author Ian R. MacLeod's acclaimed novella, which was first published in the October / November 1993 issue of Asimov's Science Fiction magazine. It went on to win the World Fantasy Award for 'Best Novella' in 1999 and received a nomination for the Hugo Award in the same year. This deluxe edition, produced by Aio Publishing, was nominated for the 2006 John W. Campbell Memorial Award.
