First UK hardcover edition. Original orange paper-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine, in the Chris Foss illustrated dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding firm with some very light bumping to the spine tips, the cloth bright and fresh. There are a few tiny flecks to the top edge of the closed text-block, the contents are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the bright original dustwrapper that is creased to the head of the spine and flap folds and has a nick to the foot of the fear flap fold. Not price-clipped (£9.95 on the front flap)

The first book in Asimov's 'Galactic Empire' sequence of three novels and one short story, set in the 'Foundations' universe. It was originally serialised under the title 'Tyrann' in Galaxy magazine in 1951.
