THE MAN WHO JAPED

First hardcover edition, first printing. Publisher's original green cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Chris Moore illustrated dustwrapper. A fine copy, the binding square and tight, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, with the unavoidable toning to the text block due to the poor quality paper stock used in production and associated offsetting to the endpapers, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the fine original dustwrapper that has just a little toning to the underside of the extreme top edge (not visible to the printed side). Not price-clipped.

First published as one half of the 1956 Ace Double 'The Man Who Japed [with] The Space-Born' in softcover format, this is the first appearance in hardcover. One of Dick's lesser-known science fiction novels, the book follows practical jokester Allen Purcell as he concocts various 'japes' to undermine the puritanical totalitarian government ruling over humankind in the year 2114.
