A fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents are clean throughout, and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the near fine original dustwrapper, which is bright and fresh, and has a crease to the bottom edge of the rear panel. Not price-clipped ($75 to the upper rear flap).

Issued in an edition of 300 copies, from which this example is numbered 29, and signed by Lucius Shepard in purple ink on the limitation page. The definitive compilation of Shepard's 'Dragon Griaule' stories and the penultimate short fiction collection to have been published during the author's lifetime. Comprising 'The Man Who Painted the Dragon Griaule', 'The Scalehunter's Beautiful Daughter', 'The Father of Stone', 'Liar's House', 'The Taborin Scale', and 'The Skull'. For 'The Skull', Shepard received a nomination for the 2013 World Fantasy Award, the whole collection was nominated for the 2013 Locus Award. The primary short story included here, 'The Man Who Painted the Dragon Griaule' (1984), from which the collection derives its name, is one of the author's most recognisable and most acclaimed works, having been nominated for a World Fantasy Award, British Fantasy Award, and British Science Fiction Association Award in 1985.
