First UK edition and first hardback edition, first printing. Signed by the author, Frederik Pohl. Original black paper-covered boards with silver titles to the spine, in the Richard Weaver illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the spine tips very slightly bumped. There is some slight spotting to the closed text-block edge, the contents are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owners' stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased, price-clipped dustwrapper, which is a little toned to the spine.
Signed by Frederik Pohl in black ink on the title page. The final book in the dystopian 'Starchild Trilogy', written collaboratively by Pohl and Jack Williamson. The series tracks the rise and fall of a totalitarian, intergalactic, computer-assisted government called The Plan of Man, each volume featuring a different set of central characters and a different era in the Plan of Man's history.
