WAR FEVER

First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Publisher's original light grey cloth boards with gilt titles to the spine, in the Peter Maynard illustrated dustwrapper. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, with a little bumping to the spine tips, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, with just a touch of toning and a little creasing to the closed text block edge, are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Complete in the lightly creased dustwrapper, which remains without fading, loss or tears. Not price-clipped (£12.95 net to the lower front flap).

Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the title page 'To David, / J. G. Ballard'. A collection of fourteen short stories told by means of unusual literary methods, including through footnotes ('Notes Towards a Mental Breakdown'), answers to unstated questions ('Answers to a Questionnaire') and the index of an unwritten book ('The Index'). Nominated for the 1991 Locus Award for 'Best Collection'.
