Folio. [2] iv, 5-978, [41, Index] + 4, Appendix pp. Nineteenth century full calf, the spine with four gilt decorated raised bands, compartments and spine ends decorated in gilt, title in gilt on a single burgundy morocco label. Board edges stamped in blind and gilt. Marbled endpapers. Bookbinder's paper label of W. W. Lucy, Marlborough to upper left of the front pastedown. Portrait frontispiece, eight further engraved plates (two of which are folding) and two folding maps. A very good copy, the binding sound and firm with a little wear to the edges. The contents, with two early previous owner's names, the pages variously toned and with mild stains and marks, are otherwise clean. The frontispiece is creased at the edges, the two folding maps with old paper repairs or strengthening to the underside. All of the text pages and illustrations are present as called for and without loss. A handsome copy.
