Issued in an edition of 374 numbered copies (and 26 lettered copies), from which this example is numbered 183, and signed by William Blatty in blue ink on the limitation page. William Blatty's fifth novel, most famous for its 1973 film adaptation, was directed by William Friedkin and starred Ellen Burstyn, Max von Sydow, Jason Miller, and Linda Blair. In addition to providing the screenplay, Blatty was also a producer on the film. For this 40th Anniversary Edition the author returned to the original manuscript, and reworked portions of the book that never satisfied him.
