Issued in an edition of 150 copies, from which this example is numbered 141 and igned by author James Herbert and contributor Brian Hodge in black ink on the colophon. This limited edition includes a bonus short story 'Halloween's Child' by James Herbert (1998), and an interview with the author conducted by fellow horror author Lisa Tuttle. Herbert's seventh novel, 'The Dark' was first published in 1980 by New English Library, and its premise follows on from Herbert's most famous novel 'The Fog' (1975) as a terrifying vision of an impenetrable presence that drives insane all who come into contact with it. While 'The Fog' takes a more science fiction approach to this concept, 'The Dark' notably contains more philosophical and spiritual themes, looking into the nature of evil and the nature of man.
