Issued in an edition of 300 copies, from which this example is numbered 89 and signed by William Hjortsberg in black ink on the colophon. 'The Cadaver of Gideon Wyck', now a classic of crime and horror fiction, was first published in 1934 by Farrar and Rinehart, Inc. New York. This limited edition includes three bonus essays, here collected for the first time: 'On Language as a Social Art', 'The Use of History', and 'Words in Sheep's Clothing'. This is the complete and unabridged edition of the novel, which includes Laing's extensive footnotes that discuss, among others, the history of medical abnormalities.
