'The Ballad of Ballard and Sandrine' first appeared in 'Terra Incognita: The Voyage Issue' edited by Bradford Morrow (Issue 56 in the Conjunctions series, Bard College), six months prior to this first standalone publication by Subterranean Press. The novella won the 2012 Bram Stoker Award for 'Superior Achievement in Long Fiction' and received a nomination for the 2012 Shirley Jackson award for 'Best Novelette'.
