Joan Samson's debut novel was published to wide acclaim in 1975, with intentions to turn the novel into a film. Soon after publication Joan Samson passed away and 'The Auctioneer' went out of print soon after. In 2007 Centipede Press republished the novel for the first time in 30 years.
