Second printing. Signed by the author. Publisher's original Paul Hunt illustrated boards, with titles in red and orange to the upper boards and in white and yellow to the spine. With the Carnegie Award for Children's Literature label fixed to the upper board. A fine copy, the binding square and firm, bright and fresh, with just a touch of rubbing to the extremities. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps.

Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the front endpaper "To Kay: Peace + love. / R E Swindells / 1994". Winner of the 1993 Carnegie Medal for Children's Literature. A young adult crime novel following a newly homeless young man adjusting to life on the streets of London. The novel formed the basis for the BAFTA Award-nominated 1997 television series produced by Andy Rowley, which starred James Gaddas, Peter Howitt and Elizabeth Rider.
