First edition. Signed by the author. Publisher's original black paper-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine, in the dustwrapper featuring a painting by Terri Broll. A very near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the head of the spine with a very faint bump. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly creased dustwrapper that is without fading, loss or tears.

Inscribed by Natalie Pollard in blue ink on the title page "To Richard, / with many thanks / & much love, / Natalie". The recipient is Dr Richard Rowland, editor and author on the Renaissance and classical mythology, and Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and Related Literature at the University of York. An analysis and exploration of the use of addresses to 'you' in contemporary poetry, with a special focus on the work of W. S. Graham, Geoffrey Hill, Don Paterson and C. H. Sisson, whilst putting their addresses in conversation with those of earlier poets.
