Limited edition. Copy number one. Signed by the illustrator. Publisher's original quarter green morocco over green cloth, with gilt titles to the spine, in card slipcase. Top edge gilt. With a frontispiece and seven further black and white copper engravings by Stephen Gooden. An fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents are clean throughout and free from inscriptions or stamps. Housed in the lightly rubbed structurally sound slipcase, which has a light bump to the bottom edge.

Issued in an edition of 125 copies of which 120 copies were for sale. This example is numbered one and signed by Stephen Gooden in pencil on the limitation page. The text reprints Edward Fitzgerald's first published translation of the Rubáiyát from 1859.
