First UK edition. Publisher's original navy cloth with silver titles to the spine, in the David Hardy illustrated dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, bright and fresh with a little rubbing to the spine tips and extremities. The contents are clean throughout, and without inscriptions or stamps. The closed text block is a touch toned and just a little spotted to the top and fore-edge. Complete with the very good or better, rubbed and creased dustwrapper, which is a little toned and marked to the spine, with a small split to the head of the front flap fold and some foxing spots to the underside. Clipped and repriced (£3.25 net on a publisher's label) to the lower front flap.

First published in serial format in 1973 between May and June in World of If magazine, and in book form America the following year by G. P Putnam's Sons.
