First edition, first printing. Original red cloth with silver titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Endpapers with map illustrations. Illustrated throughout with black and white line drawings by Geoffrey Whittam. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little rubbing to the extremities. The contents, with some light spotting to the text block edges end prelims and a neat gift inscription on the blank page opposite the half title, are otherwise clean. Complete with the rubbed and creased original illustrated dustwrapper which has a few nicks and short closed tears to the edges, and has been repaired with a few pieces of tape to the inside. Not price clipped (10s. 6d. net to the front flap).
