GRÁINNE [with] A HERON CAUGHT IN WEEDS.

Two volumes. First edition, first printing. Limited edition. Signed by the author. Original brown cloth with gilt titles to the spines, 'A Heron Caught in Weeds' with a gilt motif and titles to the upper board, 'Gráinne' in dustwrapper, illustrated by the author. 'Gráinne' is illustrated with a black and white frontispiece and small black and white illustrations throughout the text depicting archaeological artefacts. Housed together in a brown cloth-covered slipcase. Fine copies, the bindings square and tight, the contents clean throughout and without previous owners' stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the original dustwrapper which is a touch faded to the spine. Not price-clipped (£12.50 on the front flap). Complete with the very lightly rubbed slipcase.

The slipcased 'Collector's Edition' of 'Gráinne', issued together with 'A Heron Caught in Weeds', a collection of the author's poetry, in a limited edition of 250 copies. This example is numbered 72 and signed by Keith Roberts on the limitation page. A dreamlike, semi-autobiographical novel about a man (who, like the author, is an artist and writer) that finds the monotony of life suddenly broken by the bright and mysterious character of a beautiful woman. An unconventional fantasy that incorporates elements from Celtic mythology and Eastern philosophy. Winner of the British Science Fiction Association Award for best novel.
