FIVE HAVE A MYSTERY TO SOLVE

First edition. Original red paper-covered boards with black titles to the upper board and spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout with black and white line drawings by Eileen Soper. A very good copy, the binding firm with a very slight lean to the spine and faint bumping to the the foot of the spine and the bottom corners of the boards. There is some light spotting to the closed text-block edge, the contents are otherwise clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased original dustwrapper that is a little faded to the spine. Not price-clipped (7s 6d on the lower front flap).

The twentieth and penultimate Famous Five novel. It was adapted into a film serial of the same name in 1964, directed by Ernest Morris and made by the Children's Film Foundation, which had also made an adaptation of 'Five on a Treasure Island' in 1957.
