The contents, somewhat toned and spotted to the endpapers and prelims, with a couple of short closed tears at the corners of pages 45-48, and some pencilled marginalia by an unidentified previous owner, are otherwise clean throughout.

One of the earliest and most important introductions to Immanuel Kant's philosophy in English, representing a crucial early effort to make Kantian thought accessible to Anglophone readers, following the 1796 lectures of F. A. Nitsch. Copies retaining the portrait frontispiece are rarely encountered on the market.
