First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Publisher's original quarter grey cloth with dark blue titles and yellow boards, in the Bill English designed dustwrapper. Blueish green top-stain. An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the boards bright, with a mark to the rear panel and very mild toning to the extremities and centre of the upper board, corresponding with the die cut circle in the dustwrapper. The contents, with a previous owner's surname and single line address to the front pastedown, and the author's signature on the endpaper are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased, price-clipped dustwrapper that is a touch faded to the spine and otherwise without loss or tears.
Signed by Rex Stout in blue ink on the front endpaper. The twenty-ninth Nero Wolfe novel. Published in August 1966. The UK first edition, published by Collins, The Crime Club, followed in June 1967. (Hubin).
