First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with decorative vignette and titles in gilt to the upper board and spine. Top edge gilt. Illustrated with 4 fine engraved plates with tissue-guards and 50 further black and white plates. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little fading to the spine and a touch of rubbing to the extremities. The contents with occasional light foxing are otherwise in very good order throughout.
