The sequel to de Chair's account of his time as an intelligence officer with the 4th Cavalry Brigade during the Anglo-Iraqi War, continuing and completing his narrative with a description of the occupation of Baghdad and the early stages of the subsequent campaign against the Syrian armies of Vichy France. A review in the Spectator in 1944 described de Chair's wartime writings as forming "a fascinating and well-told story in the tradition of T. E. Lawrence, and one worthy to take its place in the history of British soldiers' heroic campaigns in the Near East".
