Limited edition, number 255 of 1,480 copies printed. Publisher's original full Nigerian goastskin with extensive decoration to the upper board after a design by David Eccles using gold, silver and coloured foils. The spine with five raised bands and decorative gilt title label. All edges gilt. Matching blue handmade endpapers from the Fabriano mill. Two navy blue silk ribbon page markers bound in. The Psalter meticulously reproduced in full colour and printed on Furioso paper. With separate commentary volume, bound in publisher's original quarter navy cloth over blue paper-covered boards with printed paper title label to the upper board and titles in gilt to the spine. Both contained within the original custom fitted navy blue cloth solander box with gilt leather title label to the spine. A lovely near fine copy, the binding square, firm and bright. The contents with a very minor scratch to the fore-edge of the textblock are otherwise immaculate throughout. The commentary volume with just a couple of faint minor marks to the lower board and the solander box with a touch of shelf wear are otherwise both excellent.
A beautiful limited edition facsimile of one of the great treasures of the British Library and one of the most famous medieval manuscripts in existence, particularly noted for its vivid depiction of scenes of everyday life in the fourteenth century.
