DREAMLAND

First edition. Publisher's original textured green cloth with titles and ornate decorations in gilt on the spine and upper board, the lower board with blind stamped decorations. All edges gilt. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 13 further beautiful tissue-guarded lithographic plates by Jessie Macleod. One page of advertisements at the rear. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth a little rubbed at the extremities and with some fraying at the corners and spine tips. The contents, with a bookplate on the front pastedown, are otherwise clean and complete and without inscriptions or stamps. A beautiful volume, scarce in the publisher's cloth.

A collection of 13 poems about the dreams of various characters (for example, 'The Poet's Dream' and 'The Criminal's Dream') many of which present an anti-war sentiment, the collection ending with 'A Dream of Peace'; illustrated by the Victorian painter and illustrator Jessie Macleod.
