DOWN AT THE POET'S ELBOW

Bound proof of an unrealised book project. Hardback (26 x 18.5cm). Signed by the author. Hand bound in light pink Windsor Balmoral cloth covered boards, stamped in dark pink to the upper board. Handprinted on Somerset Satin white paper, the endpapers on Somerset velvet newsprint paper. The drawings were made by Paul Housley on frosted films which were exposed onto positive working photo lithographic plates and printed on a hand-cranked direct litho press. A fine copy.

Initialed by the artist in pencil on the half title. Marked 'P.P.2' in pencil on the colophon. Intended to be issued in an edition of 15 impressions with 1 B.A.T., 2 workshop proofs, 2 artist's proofs and 2 trial proofs, for reasons unknown the project was abandoned at the proof stage. This example was offered as a prize in a draw at the publisher's party celebrating thirteen years of hand printing original lithographs.
