First Edition, privately printed for the author. Signed by Bill Bowes who contributes the preface. Publisher's original yellow cloth boards, with green cloth spine and gold titling to the spine,with dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout with black and white drawings and 12 tipped in colour plates. A better than very good copy, the binding tight and square, light rubbing and bumping to the extremities and a few light marks to the yellow cloth. The contents, with mild foxing to the prelims, are otherwise clean, bright and free from inscriptions or stamps. All colour plates are in fine condition. Complete with a better than very good rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that is lightly marked to the panels and spine and toned around the extremities.

The book documents Gordon Horner's experiences during WW2 as a war artist, his eventual capture in Libya and time as a Prisoner of War. Fully illustrated by Horner with a combination of pen, ink and charcoal sketches, alongside watercolour paintings. It has been signed in blue ink at the conclusion of the preface by English cricketer Bill Bowes, who was also a POW.
