Original black paper-covered boards with silver titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with black and white line drawings of archaeological artefacts. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm. There is a previous owner's small label to the front pastedown, the contents are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions. Complete with the original dustwrapper that is lightly rubbed and creased at the edges, remaining without fading, loss or tears.
A fascinating study of Anglo-Saxon myth and religion and how its vestiges have impacted life and culture in Britain into the modern period. First published in 1957 by Thames and Hudson.
