THE YEATS SISTERS AND THE CUALA

First edition, first printing. Original green cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. With black and white illustrations and photographs. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm with very slight bumping at the top corners and edges. The contents are clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper which is a touch faded to the spine.

A detailed exploration of the story of Susan 'Lily' Yeats and Elizabeth 'Lolly' Yeats and their formation of the Cuala Industries, an Irish female co-operative on the Arts and Crafts model. Glifford states that "The lives of Elizabeth and Lily deserve separate notice freed from [W. B. Yeats's] great shadow and from his disparagement".
