First English translation, first printing. Translated from the Russian by D. Hastie Smith. Publisher's light blue cloth with dark blue titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A very good or better copy, the binding square and firm with a bump at the head of the spine. The contents with very light spotting to the text block edge are otherwise clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the heavily worn dustwrapper which is chipped with loss to the edges and darkened to the spine. Not price-clipped.
A scarce first hand, unsentimental account of the Russian Revolution from the pen of someone who, as head of the Military Counter-Espionage Bureau in Petrograd was an active part of the events.
