SURREALISM

First edition. Publisher's original grey cloth with titles in black and red. Illustrated with 96 black and white photographic plates. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping and fraying at the spine tips and mild toning to the board edges and spine, the red lettering faded. The contents, with a previous owner's inscription to the front free endpaper, a small bookseller's label to the rear pastedown, and a little spotting to the text block edges, are otherwise clean throughout.

Herbert Read's monograph on the June 1936 International Surrealist exhibition held in London. With essays by André Breton, Hugh Sykes Davies, Paul Éluard and Georges Hugnet.
