A very good copy, the binding square and firm with some bumping and a few marks to the extremities. The contents are clean throughout. Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the blank reverse of the half title "Maureen / with my gratitude / and very best wishes / George / July 1988". The recipient is Maureen Blake (nee Moore), Lady Dunbar of Hempriggs, one of the most significant figures in C. S. Lewis' life, a friend and surrogate sister with whom he lived for over 20 years.
