First UK edition. Publisher's original dark brown cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, just a little bumped at the head of the spine, the cloth and gilt bright and fresh. The contents are clean throughout, and without inscriptions or stamps, the text block a little toned. Complete with the lightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper, which is mildly toned to the top edge of the flaps, and is otherwise without loss or tears. Not price-clipped (21s. net to the lower front flap).

The 'Ringworld' author's debut novel and the first in his 'Tales of Known Space' series. First published in 1966 by Ballantine Books, New York. a much shorter version was published as a novella in 'World of Tomorrow' in 1965.
