First edition, first printing. Original green cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the beautiful William Kermode illustrated dustwrapper. Top edge green. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the spine tips and top corner of the lower board very faintly bumped, the extreme edge of the foot of the spine slightly faded. The closed text-block fore-edge and the endpapers are spotted. The contents, with a tiny single letter written in ink on the top corner of the front pastedown, (hidden by the dustwrapper), are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the lightly nicked and creased dustwrapper that is faded to the spine, with a partially removed label over the price on the front flap. Not price-clipped (7s 6d on the lower front flap).
