TYPED LETTER SIGNED FROM ROALD DAHL TO HIS PUBLISHER RAYNER UNWIN. An Excellent Letter Regarding New Editions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and The Great Glass Elevator, and Requesting Copies of Fantastic Mr Fox.

A single page typed letter, written by Roald Dahl on Gipsy House, Great Missenden letterhead, to the head of George Allen and Unwin publishers Rayner Unwin. With interesting content. Dahl writes "I thought you would be interested to know that Puffin want to bring out a new edition of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "The Great Glass Elevator" with fresh illustrations". Dahl continues that Puffin are looking for a new illustrator and suggests Raynor should get in touch, join forces and "save yourselves some money". Dahl expresses his wish to see "a nice new edition, preferably a bit smaller and thicker than the last one...". The letter concludes by requesting "twenty copies of "Fantastic Mr. Fox", debiting my royalty account". Signed "Roald" in black ink. The letter is in very good condition, folded twice.

An excellent letter both in respect of content and association. Provenance: Rayner Unwin; thence by descent to Merlin Unwin.
