First UK edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with black titles to the spine, in the William Randell illustrated dustwrapper. A very good or better copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth is lightly faded to the extreme edges and spine tips, with some rubbing to the extremities. The contents, with mild spotting to the prelims and edges of the closed text block are otherwise clean and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed and nicked, spine faded dustwrapper, which has some small chips and short closed tears at the edges, and some spotting to the rear panel and underside. Not price-clipped (9s 6d net to the lower front flap).
