First edition, first printing. Quarto (26.5 x 19 cm). Original pink card wrappers lettered and illustrated in orange, yellow, purple, turquoise and white. Orange endpapers. A very near fine, bright copy, the binding firm, the wraps and contents clean throughout. A touch toned around the spine.

Bukowski's tragicomic story of Manny Hyman, an aging, drunken, failing comedian; with six illustrations, including the cover and frontispiece, by the great Robert Crumb. Printed in Santa Barbara for the Black Sparrow Press by Graham Mackintosh. Designed by Robert Crumb and Barbara Martin. In addition to the trade edition in wrappers, there were 400 copies in cloth and 426 handbound, numbered copies signed by Bukowski and Crumb.
