First edition, first printing. Complete in seven volumes. Original brown cloth with gilt titles to the spines and gilt facsimile signatures to the upper boards, in the Jack Gaughan illustrated dustwrappers. A near fine set, the bindings square and firm, the corners and spine tips slightly rubbed, the cloth otherwise bright and fresh. Volumes I, V, VI and VII have a little faint spotting to the closed text-block edge and volume V has a previous owner's inscription on the title page, the contents are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the lightly edge-rubbed original dustwrappers which are slightly rubbed and faded at the spines.
