First edition, first printing. Publisher's original orange cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the Jeremy Mallard illustrated dustwrapper. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, bright and fresh with a little rubbing to the spine tips and extremities. The contents, with just a touch of spotting to the front endpaper, are otherwise clean throughout, and without inscriptions or stamps. The text block is mildly toned and with some spotting to the top and bottom edges. Complete with the rubbed and creased dustwrapper, which is a little toned to the top edge and spotted to the rear flap and underside. Not price-clipped (£3.75 net to the lower front flap).
Best known for his 'Jack Carter' novels, Ted Lewis here presents a semi-autobiographical novel that follows an increasingly-violent young art student in the small town of Barton-upon-Humber.
